PRIDE Centre Meeting Minutes
January 18, 2011
Present: Emma, Tanner, Sarah, Josh, Devonlynne
1. Welcome (7:15pm)
1.1.1. Additions to agenda
1.1.1.1. Logo Business (See 7.8)
1.2. Approve last meeting's minutes
1.2.1. Yes we approve.
2. Resource Centre co-coordinator
2.1. The other one is Shayln
2.1.1. She is awesome, adorable, we love her and she was President last year.
2.2. The Co-coordinator is not an official executive position yet, but when we have the Resource Centre (which will be soon) it will be.
2.3. The position is very important.
2.4. The job entails coordinating volunteers, helping to organize the Centre, helping the Centre run, basically a manager position.
2.5. Election
2.5.1. Kristie nominates Neal

2.5.2. Devonlynne nominates Sydney
2.5.2.1. Sydney politely declines

3. Activities Coordinator
3.1. The job is partly to help make the job of President and Vice-President easier.
3.1.1. It involves a lot of details and finicky stuff, like booking room and finding hosts for Queeraokee
3.1.2. The Activities Coordinator has an Activities Committee
3.1.2.1. The Committee must have at least 2 members, as per the Constitution
3.1.2.1.1. The members of the Activities Committee are not official positions
3.1.2.1.1.1. They are to be at the beck and call of the Activities Coordinator

4. Meeting day change
4.1. Meetings are now the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month

5.1. They are working on getting a Queer Study Class in the Addictions Counseling Department which sounds wonderful.

6.1.1. Saturday January 29th 8pm
6.1.1.1. The Big Queer House 26 Cayuga Crescent
6.1.1.2. Text Tanner or Emma for directions
6.1.1.2.1. Tanner would like to see 30 people in the Queer house so be there.
6.2. Movie nights
6.2.1. Now the 2nd Tuesday of the Month
6.2.2. On February 8th we are watching The Kids are Alright and The Birdcage
6.3. Queeraoke
6.3.1. They will be on the following dates: February 4, March 25 and April 15
6.4. Valentine's is Such a Drag
6.4.1. It is the 5th Annual and it is our largest fundraiser
6.4.2. It will be held February 12th 10pm at the Black Tomato lounge off of Pasta Fresco (862 Heritage Blvd West) $10 Admission $5 if a member
6.4.2.1. There is room for a dance space downstairs and a chill out space upstairs
6.4.3. Stage
6.4.3.1. There is no stage at the location so we are going to make one with risers
6.4.3.1.1. It will be about $100-$150 depending on how large we choose to make it.
6.4.4. DJ
6.4.4.1. We are going to bring in a DJ from Calgary and put them in an area upstairs
6.4.4.1.1. $100 for the night
6.4.5. Advertising
6.4.5.1. We are going to advertise the heck out of it
6.4.5.2. Posters Britt and Tyson will do posters
6.4.5.2.1. Which will happen very soon, if not we will use old pictures.
6.4.6. GALA Sound System
6.4.6.1. Can use if we need to.
6.4.7. Lighting
6.4.7.1. It will be about $100, for lights and smoke machines, so has more of a club feel.
6.4.8. Fundraisers within Valentines
6.4.8.1. Silent Auction
6.4.8.1.1. Dildo painting- no room for it in the Centre, so we are going to auction it off.
6.4.8.1.1.1. Members vote- Approved.
6.4.8.1.2. We want things from businesses so if you are willing to give out letters, just contact Emma and she will e-mail you a letter.
6.4.8.1.2.1. They do not have to give you the thing right away, the contact info is on the letter, and someone can go get it.
6.4.8.1.2.2. If it something that is not physically there, make sure there is some sort of letter to prove it, with description.
6.4.8.1.2.3. If nothing, ask for Gift Cards or ask if we can put a poster in their window.
6.4.8.1.2.4. Talk to artists maybe they will make something
6.4.8.1.2.5. Be creative.
6.4.8.1.2.6. START NOW.
6.4.8.2. Couple’s Prison
6.4.8.2.1. We separate cutesy couples, like Emma and Sydney, or Kate and Shalyn and separate them. In order to be reunited people have to pay their bail in money or the couple must pay own bail in kisses.
6.4.8.3. The bar will be doing a 50/50 Draw with half going to Rhino in the Room and the other half going to the winner.
6.4.8.4. Live People Auction
6.4.8.4.1. The person who wins you must take you out for coffee, dinner, drinks, etc.
6.4.8.4.2. If you want to be auctioned off let us know.
6.4.8.5. Box Social
6.4.8.5.1. People will write out a menu and a few things about themselves, and then people will pay to either spin and wheel or shoot a dart to win the meal. But people can pay more money to save the one they want.
6.4.9. People performing
6.4.9.1. Audition Days- January 30 –see Facebook
6.4.9.2. Not just drag performances- Singing, spoken word, whatever you would like
6.4.10. We need volunteers for the night.
6.4.10.1. Silent Auction, Decoration, Work the Door, Posters
6.4.10.1.1. You will be helping, it is not an if, it is a when and where. J
6.5. OUTspoken
6.5.1. Five Day Queer Workshop Series
6.5.2. Bringing it at least 4 speakers
6.5.3. Proposals into LPRIG, Women’s Centre, SU,
6.5.4. Need lots of Volunteer, everyone will be helping
6.5.4.1. We will need more help as it gets closer to the event.
6.5.4.2. One or 2 more people are needed for planning stages
6.5.5. We will have the Resource Centre by then

7.1.1. SU- Mini Fresh Fest
7.1.1.1. Thursday and Friday
7.1.1.2. Mandatory Coat Check
7.1.1.2.1. Club that does it get the money
7.1.1.2.2. We will do it for both days

7.2. GALA youth meeting
7.2.1. Meeting Friday 7pm Boys and Girls Club

7.3.1. Saturday 10pm Moose Hall Beach Themed
7.4. Firespinning collaborative Masquerave
7.4.1. It will happen in early April and they will do most of the work.
7.4.2. We will be supplying bodies, not necessarily lots of money.
7.4.2.1. Things like coat check, posters, etc.
7.4.3. Are we interested? Yes.
7.5. Speed Dating with the Sorority
7.5.1. We will be doing it with the Sorority and one other club
7.5.2. They want us to run the Queer Section and provide some daters
7.5.3. $3 Per Person
7.5.4. Are we interested? Sure why not.
7.6. SU elections
7.6.1. Tons of positions available
7.6.1.1. You can be part of the General Assembly or on the Executive
7.6.1.1.1. Emma’s options are VP Internal or President.
7.6.1.2. If you are going for an Executive Position you can only take a limited number of classes
7.6.1.3. You should run
7.6.1.4. At the very least VOTE.
7.7. The Students Union needs freelance writers, photographers, etc.
7.7.1. See the Student Union’s Facebook page.
7.8. Logo Business
7.8.1. Josh loves us, we love him for making us a variety of pretty logos
7.8.2. So we have options and we have decided upon a few
7.8.3. This means we can paint the tunnel
7.8.4. Tanner is looking to see if we can get our logo on the Blue Sign which will indicate where the PRIDE Centre is.
